Panter Hudspith has recently won a national competition for a mixed use scheme on a prominent corner site in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Comprising of 6,000sqm of office space, 7,000sqm of retail space and a 100-room hotel the scheme also includes a raised courtyard garden with a spa and health club and new bars and restaurants overlooking the historic town. Formerly the ABC cinema, the site in the conservation area has been empty since 2000. Robert Adam said of the winning entry: ’This is a nicely-controlled, restrained scheme of excellent quality. Although all the entries were exciting, we were unanimous in selecting this design as the best way forward for Tunbridge Wells.’
