Armada Way, Portsmouth
Panter Hudspith won this competition in April 2003 for the redevelopment of Armada Way, a significant city centre site in Plymouth. The four finalists were given the challenge of combining contemporary innovation and high design standards with market-tested evidence of commercial viability to provide a concept for a new mixed-use scheme in the heart of this formal, highly organised city.
Panter Hudspith responded with a ”deceptively simple and engaging” proposal that emphasised a solution driven by wider opportunities and ambitions in the city centre.
The sculptural and dynamic pavilion would provide a public focus and reinvigorate the original Boulevard.
