Flaxengate, Lincoln

Flaxengate, Lincoln

In East Cowes, Panter Hudspith worked with Landscape Design Associates to create a masterplan for the complete re-structuring and regeneration of the East Cowes town centre.

The proposals include:

• Redesign of the Quayside to create a new Ferry Terminal, Marina and
Boat Museum, as well as associated marine based industries.

• A new focus for retail in the town including a health centre and Library.

• 450 new residential units grouped around a series of landscaped courtyards and interspersed amongst existing trees.

We completed the work on East Cowes towards the end of 2005.

Flaxengate, Lincoln

The masterplan for the Flaxengate area in the centre of Lincoln was instigated following Panter Hudspith's commission to design the new City & County Museum - in order to provide an appropriate setting for the museum.

The area is currently in very poor condition, dominated by surface car parks, unsympathetic 1960s buildings and service yards. The proposals focus around the creation of a new public space and a courtyard framed within the walls of the new museum, both closely linked back to the High Street. A mixture of uses is provided including arts, residential and restaurants.
