Flaxengate, Lincoln
The masterplan for the Flaxengate area in the centre of Lincoln
was instigated following Panter Hudspith's commission to design
the new City & County Museum - in order to provide an appropriate
setting for the museum.
The area is currently in very poor condition, dominated by surface
car parks, unsympathetic 1960s buildings and service yards. The
proposals focus around the creation of a new public space and a
courtyard framed within the walls of the new museum, both closely
linked back to the High Street. A mixture of uses is provided including
arts, residential and restaurants.
